Raechel's Bio

I adore singing and am told that I sang before I spoke! I won the Reflections contest for music composition almost every year from 1st through 12th grade. I started piano at a young age and have accompanied choirs and played in pit orchestras throughout high school and in Community Theaters. I’ve won numerous awards for classical singing and piano.

I graduated from college with a degree in Music with a double emphasis in Piano and Voice. I studied piano under Jeff Shumway, which included a mandatory 3 hours of piano practice per day, but I usually practiced 4 hours a day! I studied voice under Daphne Spann, and later, UVU’s Diane Riley. I also have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, and have found great pleasure in teaching preschool and 4th grade. I have been teaching kids & adults piano, composition, and a variety of vocal techniques since 2009. 

​I believe that learning to sing and perform helps people believe in themselves in a way that is different from other activities. I love seeing children (and adults!) gain that special kind of self-confidence that is found from being immersed in music.
